Petten Science Competition 2018

Dear all,

On the 14th and 15th of march 2018, the Petten Science Competition took place. All Nursery and Primary students worked hard to prepare interesting science experiments. Traditionally the S2 students also prepared a science experiment for the judges and other students.

This year’s competition was another great success! I had the privilege to see many of the projects with my colleague – judge Ana Ruiz from the JRC in Petten. We had a hard time deciding which projects did a little better than others and were the 2018 competition winners. We had a nice prizes ceremony in the Primary DC and even at the Euromarket some of the S2 participants and European Schools Science Symposium competitors were willing to tell a little about their science projects.

I want to thank all students involved for the great effort and enthusiasm they showed in all different parts of this event. The level and originality of the experiments was another highlight in this ongoing event.

I was involved as a judge for the 9th year and have to say the event seems to be totally alive. To be a judge and see all this talent was only possible because of the help of my team – member Ana Ruiz and the financial support for the prizes from the JRC, so thanks!

I also want to thank all the primary teachers, and the S2 Science teachers, Mr Ramp, Mr Holmes, Mrs Coppen and Mr Rientsma for all their efforts. Finally, I like to thank the coordinators Mrs Meijer and Mrs Whelan for their help to let all run as smoothly as all the other years.

Enjoy the pictures and have a great holiday!

Best wishes,

Wouter Haenen
