When the pupils come to the school, they are enrolled in one of the language sections, or streams. We have English, Dutch and French speaking sections. The pupil does most of the work in this section and for most of the pupils, the language of the section becomes their Language 1 (L1) unless they have an L1 that is not the language of a section (for example, a pupil who has L1 Polish and L2 English, and is in the English section).
